A Cal.com alternative when you do not want to host it.

Cal.com is a strong choice if you want open source, self-hosting, or a developer-shaped product. BookMyTime is the hosted booking page for people who sell time and want payment in the same step.

Updated 22 October 2026

Hosting is the real decision

Product details below were reviewed in October 2026. Competitors change their plans. Check their pricing page before you buy, and check ours. Cal.com can be self-hosted. That is a genuine advantage for teams with the ops capacity to run it, review updates, and own the data plane. BookMyTime is hosted. You do not patch it. You also do not control the infrastructure.

If self-hosting is a requirement, stop here and use Cal.com or another product you can run. If it is a nice idea you will not staff, a hosted page will be the one that stays up.

Payments and pricing the slot

BookMyTime takes Stripe or PayPal payment before the booking is confirmed, including on the Free plan. Per-slot prices, deposits and packages are Pro features. The walkthrough is on paid appointments.

Cal.com's cloud product has had paid apps and Stripe workflows that depend on which plan and which app you enable. Treat that as something to verify in their docs, not as a permanent fact. The product difference we will stand behind is focus: BookMyTime leads with the paid slot, Cal.com leads with the scheduling platform.

Who each one fits

Pick Cal.com if you are a developer, you want the codebase, or you need to self-host. Pick BookMyTime if you are a coach, creator, tutor or firm and you want a page live without operating a service.

Both can put a meeting on Google or Outlook and both can hand out a video link. Calendar sync on BookMyTime also includes iCloud, which matters if your other life is on Apple.

Switching from Cal.com

Export or copy your event types, connect calendars on BookMyTime, and replace links. If you self-hosted, your data stays where you put it. BookMyTime import covers event types. It does not ingest a self-hosted database.

Teams that want round-robin without running the infrastructure should read team scheduling before they assume they must stay self-hosted to get it.

FAQ

Questions about this

Can't find yours? Visit the help center or talk to us.

Is BookMyTime open source?

No. Cal.com is the open-source project. BookMyTime is a hosted product.

Can I move event types from Cal.com?

You can recreate them, and one-click import covers standard event-type fields. A self-hosted database is not imported wholesale.

Which is more private?

Self-hosting keeps data on infrastructure you control. Hosted BookMyTime encrypts data in transit and uses OAuth for calendars. Read the security page and Cal.com's docs for the deployment you would actually run.

Does BookMyTime have an API?

There is no public self-host API. Team scheduling is on the Business plan.
